SIMP is an Open Source, fully automated, and extensively tested framework that can either enhance your existing infrastructure or allow you to quickly build one from scratch. Built on the mature Puppet product suite, SIMP is designed around scalability, flexibility, and compliance.
In this three-day course, students will learn to build and test SIMP-compatible Puppet modules, integrate applications in a SIMP environment using Puppet, manage SIMP modules to permit applications specific network and or file access, and manage user access to the SIMP Server and SIMP clients.
In SIMP Fundamentals, our engineers will guide you through the competencies you will need to manage your applications in a SIMP environment. We will cover principles and practical knowledge that will allow you to customize and maintain the SIMP framework. We will assess pain points and work through them with guided, hands-on instruction.
Students should have a working knowledge of Linux system administration.
A basic understanding of Puppet is highly recommended. We recommend working with the Puppet Learning VM as a starting point.
Have a laptop with a working browser (Google Chrome works best).
