SIMP Report – 06 05 2016

Back to Listing

Hanover, MD, 05 June 2016

This is the latest update of the SIMP Project.

  • Default Disk Encryption
  • SSH Alternate Port Fixes
  • Fixed the Build!
  • Kerberos
  • HAVEGED
  • Community Fixes
  • HTTPS Kickstarts

Automated Testing

  • Due to pressing priorities, the flip over to Concourse-CI has been put on hold. Jenkins is still chugging along but not ideal for our purposes in the long run.

Bug Fixes

  • The build was broken by upstream Gem updates. This is always fun but we got through it successfully.
  • SIMP-1121
    • Need to set the SELinux port contexts for switching to alternative ports
  • SIMP-1122
    • The apache module should recurse when using non-standard certs

New Features

  • SIMP-1016
    • Disk encryption is now enabled by default! Don’t get too excited as this doesn’t provide you a huge gain out of the box. It does, however, allow you to switch over to your own password sets without reformatting your disks in the future which is a good thing.
  • SIMP-1123
    • Added Fedora 23 facts to simp-puppet-facts
  • SIMP-1060 and SIMP-1061
    • Added SIMP-specific facts to simp-puppet-facts to work around missing fact issues from the stock rspec-puppet-facts
    • It is quite likely that our set is a more solid set to start with at this point as we fixed several items that we felt were issues but that the upstream team did not

The Near Future

  • Finalize the Concourse CI work for an integrated CI system that can be reused at any location
  • Finalize the first cut at the IPSec work
