SIMP and its product steward, Onyx Point, LLC., were sponsors of Puppet Conf 2016. This year’s premier IT Automation conference was held in San Diego, California and highlighted product releases and improvements, technical break-outs, and security tracks to unite DevOps professionals over common interests and challenges.
Trevor Vaughan, Onyx Point co-founder and Principal Engineer of SIMP, delivered an update to new and existing users of the System Integrity Management Platform (SIMP). SIMP, which operates on a fully open source core code base, provides the following to its users:
- Full Management of RedHat and CentOS systems
- Reduced Complexity of Technical Compliance
- Enhanced Security and Compliance
- Leverage the Open Source Community
Over the course of a year in Open Source, several product features were added and/or refined, tested, and made available to users. Of these features, SIMP’s addition of the COMPLIANCE MAPPER, was worthy of note. The COMPLIANCE MAPPER provides validation against one or a selection of commonly required IT compliance standards.
You can specify multiple compliance profiles at once. If you want to see PCI-DSS, SOX, HIPAA, STIG, and NIST 800-53 all at the same time, you can.
In addition to the session led by Trevor, Onyx Point hosted a booth in the Exhibitor Pavilion. Conference attendees were encouraged to FORK IT and contribute to the project in a vibrant green and black booth that highlighted the security and compliance platform as well as Puppet professional services the company provides. Games of chance which underscored the tenets of Security, Compliance, Automation, and DevOps kept things light, while core contributors and security engineers were available for question and answer sessions and hands-on demonstration.
