All during February, Free and Open Source Software Month recognizes the cooperative approach to computer programming, open licensing, and free distribution of software. The Registrar at National Day Calendar declared the observance on January 26, 2017.
Onyx Point, LLC. founded Free and Open Source Software Month (#FOSSFeb) to highlight the cooperative principles of open source software and the contributions this approach to software development continues to produce. As avid Open Source supporters and contributors, we hope that this annual observation will help to further general understanding and adoption of Open Source principles and projects. We provide Security, System Administration, IT Automation, Puppet Professional Services, and DevOps consulting for Government and commercial clients. We are the stewards of SIMP, an Open Source project released by NSA’s Technology Transfer Program. We support the ideas of liberal licensing, community contributions, reduced IT costs, and opportunities for users to improve design, fix glitches, and add new features.
Onyx Point has made some fun, free downloadables available on our Github page for everyone to use and show their support of FOSS February. Choose from official logos, desktop wallpapers, coloring pages, temporary profile images and more. We’ll be spotlighting our favorite Open Source projects through the month. Follow us on Twitter, so you don’t miss a post.
